The Network Contracting Office 9, on behalf James H. Quillen VA Medical in Mountain Home, TN is conducting this Sources Sought to identify contractors who possess the capabilities to provide the following Meals for All or equal to determine source availability, capability. and adequacy:
Salient Characteristics
1. Meals must be designed for institutional emergency preparedness (easily prepared using hot or cold water, ensuring continuous meal service even in the absence of gas and/or electricity.).
2. Must be account for three to seven days or longer in the event of an emergency.
3. Must be designed by registered dietitians
4. Must offer accommodate various diets (Therapeutic and dysphagia) for a hospital setting.
5. Meals must be freeze-dried and must have shelf life of 10-years.
6. Meals must provide a complete, nutritionally balanced meal.
7. Must accommodate various meal types (regular meals, pureed meals, vegetarian meals).
8. Meals must be sodium restricted.
9. Meals must be Low cholesterol/low fat.
10. Must have regular and pureed snacks.

Contractors who believe they can provide an or equal domestic sourced product or item may respond to this sources sought notice. The Government will evaluate the materials provided to determine if a preference could be given to domestic sources in any future solicitation.

As permitted by FAR Part 10, this is a market research tool being utilized for informational and planning purposes. Your responses will assist the Government in developing its acquisition strategy for a possible solicitation and in determining if any type of small business set-aside is possible for this procurement and if full and open competitive procedures should be utilized. If full and open competition is ultimately utilized, responses to this synopsis will be used to aid in establishing small business subcontracting goals, if applicable.

This is not a solicitation or any commitment or obligation on the part of the Government to issue a solicitation. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this synopsis or with any follow-up information requests.

Response is strictly voluntary – it is not mandatory to submit a response to this notice to participate in any potential future solicitation. However, it should be noted that information gathered through this notice may significantly influence the VA s acquisition strategy for this procurement. All interested parties will be required to respond separately to any solicitation posted from this Sources Sought notice.
