The NIA, DNA Repair Unit (DRU) hypothesizes that different molecular cargos, including small RNA, in extracellular vesicles contribute to type 2 diabetes mellitus in middle-aged adults.  DRU also hypothesizes that there will be different small RNA levels in EVs in individuals who are euglycemic versus diabetic individuals in the HANDLS cohort.

As such, the government has a need to provide RNA samples (212) for deep sequencing using a Illumina NovaSeq 6000 sequencing system.  The contractor will prepare small RNA sequencing library preparation using the QiaSeq miRNA library preparation with dual index and UMIs.  Sequencing will be performed on a NovaSeq 6000 sequencing system using Illumina NovaSeq S1 flowcell with at least 5 million reads per sample.  FAST Q files of the data will be provided to the government for further analyses.
