The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting market research for roof repairs solutions for a hangar located at USCG Base Cape Cod, Buzzards Bay, MA.  This seventy year old, 36,000 SF airplane hangar, which is currently used to store runway maintenance equipment, has a corrugated metal roof with years of various patch coatings which contain asbestos. The roof has active leaks at the intersection of the sloped roofs and the vertical side walls. Ten (10) photos of the existing conditions are attached and additional photos are available.

The USCG is searching for solutions that will provide short term (5 year) water tightness at areas that have active leaks and does not disturb the existing asbestos contenting materials.  Liquid applied roofing material and products that require no to minimal surface preparation is of interest.   Manufacturers, distributers, contractors, roofing applicators and any interested party are welcome to make recommendations. On-roof visual inspection along with adhesion testing of the proposed products can be arranged.

The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 238160 – Roofing Contractors; size standard $16.5 million.
