The Geology Geophysics Geochemistry Science Center operates a RESOlution-SE laser ablation system (RAI1025) located in the PlasmaLab, Room 2432, Building 95, Denver Federal Center. The primary use of this instrument is currently for in-situ isotope analysis of critical mineral isotope systems present at trace levels in individual minerals. The LA system was installed in June 2019 and supports research of high priority to the Mineral Resource Program (MRP), the NCGMP, the Alaska Science Center, and other internal and external research collaborators. In order to support the research goals of project scientists we are seeking to upgrade the current RESOlution-SE system with a LIBS detector in order to provide simultaneous elemental and isotopic information from a single laser ablation measurement.
